Emergency Care & Specialty Services
We are the Animal Referral & Emergency Center, providing specialized services to meet the needs of our community. Since opening in 2007, we've expanded to offer specialty surgery alongside comprehensive emergency services. Initially founded as the Animal Emergency Clinic of York in 1991 and purchased by Monroe Veterinary Emergency Group in 2005, our hospital has continuously evolved to meet the growing demand for high-quality care. As of 2024, we are open 7 days a week from 10 am until 10 pm to ensure your pets receive the best care whenever they need it.
As pet parents, we dread the thought of our fur-children ever getting sick enough to require emergency care. Unfortunately, accidents and illnesses do occur, so our exceptional emergency care teams are here to help in your time of need.
Cardiology is a branch of veterinary medicine concerned with diagnosing, treating, and managing conditions related to the heart. This includes a pet’s blood vessels, circulatory system, and sometimes their lungs.
The heart is one of your pet’s most essential organs, continually pumping blood containing oxygen and nutrients to the rest of the body. In most heart-related problems, either damage or deterioration occurs to either the heart valves or heart muscles.
No matter what type of heart problems your pet may have during their life, our Primary, Specialty, and Emergency Care teams have the skills and resources to help your pet have the highest quality of life possible through treatment and hands-on management.

Dr. Joshua L. Weisberg, a 2000 graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, has had a remarkable journey in veterinary medicine. After practicing emergency medicine near his hometown in Suffolk, Virginia, for two years, he volunteered with the Peace Corps in Guatemala, collaborating with the Wildlife Conservation Society. Growing up on a hobby farm, Dr. Weisberg developed a deep love for animals, leading him to a career in veterinary medicine. He discovered a passion for Emergency Medicine, not driven by adrenaline but by a genuine desire to assist people and pets during critical moments at the ER. His top pet wellness tip: "If you are concerned about your pet, don’t hesitate to get them checked out." Outside of work, Dr. Weisberg enjoys a three-day work week, managing a variety of pets with his family, including award-winning dairy goats. An avid fitness enthusiast, he engages in activities like running, biking, swimming, and hiking, having recently completed two full marathons with more challenges on the horizon.
